Actively serving others is central to how we practice our Christian faith. The Methodist movement has always prioritized the importance of living out our faith in Christ in communal and social settings. We seek to always serve alongside others in ways that are relationship-based and filled with love, grace, and dignity. We believe that by serving, not only do we help others, but we ourselves are able to grow and learn from others.
When people are baptized, confirmed, or welcomed into the church family as members, United Methodists promise to uphold the church with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our service. This holistic understanding of support and engagement reminds us how valuable it is that we are present and participatory.
It is truly beautiful how we all have different personalities, talents, experiences, preferences, and characteristics. When we all come together and offer ourselves, wonderful things happen.
