Children

We’ve got a wide variety of things going on in our the lives of children and youth in and around ELUMC!

Young people in the congregation get to spend time with our Co-Directors of Children’s Ministries and other adult vounteers each Sunday morning. During the 9am service, young people usually sit in the front of the service with our Director to fill out faith-based coloring sheets or do other fun faith-based activities. During Sunday School and the 11am service, we usually offer a Nursery where young people go down the hallway to our Children’s room with lots of toys and other entertainment. We also usually send out some Advent activities to our families around the holidays.

Young people in the congregation and throughout the East Lake community (and beyond!) get to spend time with our Co-Directors of Children’s Ministries and other adult volunteers at our annual seasonal events! These include:

  • Easter Eggs-travaganza
  • Halloween Carnival
  • Christmas Party

We typically publicize these free comunity events via our Chimes newsletter and Facebook page, so check there for details, dates, and times.

Kids’ Corner at the Market is another big part of our Youth and Children’s Ministries. During Farmers Market season (May-October), Kids’ Corner takes place every Saturday at 10am. We have a special table in our parking lot full of free activites, snacks, crafts, games, treats, and short lessons open to all young people.

We partner with local schools such as i3 Academy for various programs, such as Pizza Parties for outstanding students and mentoring groups that cover character building, online etiquette, handling transitions.

As we continue to rebuild, develop, and innovate our Youth and Children’s Ministries post-COVID, we invite your input and participation! If you have questions, ideas, concerns, dreams, specific needs, or anything else, please reach out to us! We are still figuring out exactly what works and what best suits people, and we can try to accommodate you in this stage of very flexible growth.

Our Youth and Children’s Ministries are funded by the Calloway/Nichols/Good Fund, so if you would like to support this specific area (Think meaningful connections, encouragement, investment, LOVE, and lots of fun!), make sure to specify the Calloway/Nichols/Good Fund when you give.
